2008 Bald Eagle Sets Now Sold Out
http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs...egory_rn=10141
Orders reached the 25,000 mintage limit within 6 weeks of going on the market. There was a one-per-household limit during 4 of those 6 weeks so J6P only had 2 weeks to order it in any significant numbers. I've been watching them closely on Ebay over the past 10 days and a nice premium of about $70 is now developing, even after deducting 5% for fees. I was only able to pick up one of these, though, since I was waiting for a solid premium to develope. By the time it had, the mint was sold out. Oh, well. I really need to work on my future prediciton skills. :smokin: |
Re: 2008 Bald Eagle Sets Now Sold Out
I'm still pissed at getting cut out of the Eagle Anniversary set but it was my fault for waiting too long. I did manage to buy some 1999 and 2001 silver quarter sets though. I bought a couple of Bald Eagle proofs, they are extremely nice. If it's ok, I'll repost the picture--

She's a beaut, alright. I picked up a proof dollar for keeping, too. I think the set's getting sold, though. The dollar's the prettiest part of it, IMHO.

Re: 2008 Bald Eagle Sets Now Sold Out
sorry to change the subject, but this weeks Coin World magazine says that Silvertowne in Indiana has reported melting down 6000 to 8000 first spouse gold coins.
Dealers bought large lots of the Washington and Adams anticipating a big retail demand. The retail demand didn't show up and POG has gone up about $300 since then. Sorry Martha. Sorry Abigail. into the melting pot you go! :no_ma: |

Does anyone see the "Star of David" formed by the 13 stars inside the wreath?:smokin:

Re: 2008 Bald Eagle Sets Now Sold Out
For some reason the letters in LIBERTY didn't highlight as much as the eagle in my scans.
Scanning coins is pretty much a hit or miss proposition. Sometimes they look good, and sometimes not. |

Re: 2008 Bald Eagle Sets Now Sold Out
Note that this is only for the three coin set.
The individual gold coins have a mintage limit of 100k so there's very little chance of those actually selling out. The Silver coins have a 500k limit... |

I'd say just check the US Mint's website every week or so early in the year.
